Marveling at Megan Mckean For Maxwell & Williams
If you've ever felt the need to travel to Paris and witness the magnificence of the Eiffel Tower, or escape to the Big Apple to view the city from the top of the Empire State Building, then Australian artist Megan Mckean's range of new homewares in collaboration with Maxwell & Williams is the one for you!
Characterised by the use of bright colour palettes, strong line work and hidden details that exist within each item, Megan's work encourages you to view the piece in a way that you might view artwork, always willing to go back for a second look.
While traveling on their honeymoon and admiring some of the world's greatest cities, Megan, along with her partner Josh, were inspired to create a range of contemporary souvenirs that capture the essence of the place featured and the fun of travel, and so Mckean Studios was founded.
Fast forward years later and they're now working out of their Studio in Sydney, forever dreaming of the next place to travel next (honestly, aren't we all) to inspire their next collection. Proudly designed in Australia, it's not hard to see why dinnerware giant Maxwell & Williams wanted to feature their designs as a part of their Aussie artist series.
The 'Cities Collection' includes 25 pieces inspired by Rome, Paris, New York, London and of course, our very own Sydney and Melbourne. Featuring a whole heap of home decor including coffee mugs (if you haven't already guessed from the image above), to-go tumblers, coasters, placemats and serving trays, all with designs of icons and famous landmarks, this range really has something for everyone.
With everything being made from high-quality porcelain, except for the tumblers which are made from stainless steel, these pieces are built to last and are perfect for everyday use, whether you're enjoying a quiet cup of coffee by yourself or hosting an afternoon tea party for your closest friends.
Describing working with Maxwell & Williams as a "dream come true", Megan adores being able to partner with brands in the hope of bringing her fun and colourful artwork to life. Making her work more accessible to a wider audience was also one of the driving reasons behind the collaboration and Megan now relishes the fact that everyone can pick up something they love inspired by a place they love without compromising on quality.
